1.DAMAGE IN GERMINATING STAG IN SUMMER PEARL MILLET DUE TO BIRD PESTS IN PATAN DISTRICT (N.G.) BY K.B.PATEL
Abstract
Pearl millet is main crop of the Patan district of Gujarat state. Pearl millet is grown in two
season viz. summer and kharif. The variety viz. Ushha-23 of pearl millet selected for study
purpose. Pearl millet damage by bird pests in Patan district is a serious predicament. The
Patan district is dominant by farmers and their agricultural activities. The economy of the
Patan area primarily depends on agriculture out of the total number of persons engaged in
agriculture. This research work conducted during 2005 at Hansapur village of Patan district.
During these research works, identified bird pests and carried out assessment of losses for
2005 – 2006. Seed of this crop is exposed and so attract several bird species during the entire
period of seed setting to harvesting stage and so suffer heavy losses.
