3. ETHNOBOTANICAL BIORESOURCES FROM SANGLI, SATARA AND KOLHAPUR DISTRICTS OF MAHARASHTRA by ILAHI MUJAWAR
Abstract
The practice of traditional medicine by using various plant parts that relief from different aliments in human throughout the India since from ancient time. A field investigation was conducted from last ten years continuously and periodically and efforts has been paid attention for the medicinal value of plants and was put on records through periodic interviews with various experienced workers in traditional practioners including old mans, bhagats, devpujari, guravs, vaidues, dhangars and even farmers and farm workers. Ethnobotanical studies are essential from various parts of country and were documented before the loss of knowledge from rural and remote areas. Therefore, present work has been undertaken to collect the data, information from these experienced peoples from southern region of Maharashtra in general and Sangli, Kolhapur and Satara district particular. Plants were collected, identified and information on their parts used with their medicinal values in the treatment of human affliction was documented.
