Abstract

The present investigation is an attempt to record the taxonomical studies of avenue trees of Anand and Vidyanagar in different habitat and status of awareness about the avenue trees. An attempt was made to assess the status of awareness about the avenue trees among different walks of people, mainly the students, at the beginning of this study. Total 250 individuals were selected randomly at various spots, and interviewed for this purpose.71 avenue tree species were recorded. Among them Caesalpiniaceae, Mimosaceae, Meliaceae, Combretaceae, Euphorbiaceae, Bignoniaceae are the dominant families of avenue trees in Anand and Vidyanagar.
