3.TRADITIONAL HERBAL ETHNOMEDICINAL RECIPES IN JALGAON DISTRICT (M.S.) - A RESUME BY SHUBHANGI PAWAR1 AND D. A. PATIL
Abstract
A review of the traditional herbal formulations in Jalgaon district is presented in this
communication. Wide spectrum of recipes such as raw herbs, extract, infusion, decoction, juice,
smoke, fume, paste, powder, pellets, ash, slurry, tooth brushes, mouth-washes, gargles, poultice,
etc. are employed by the tribal communities. These herbal recipes convey the medicinal value as
good as the quantity of the raw herbs for better effectiveness of the herbs employed for various
treatments. In few cases, time of collection of plants, their parts, associated hymns (Mantras),
avoidances, selection of host plant in case of parasitic plant, social rites, etc. are taken into
consideration prior to application.
