Pleurotus ostreatus, commonly known as the oyster mushroom, is recognized globally for its nutritional and therapeutic properties. In this study, we aimed to investigate the yield aspects of P. ostreatus when cultivated on different substrates. Substrat is the most important factor in the production of edible mushroom. In order to determine the effects of substrates spawn preparation on mycelial growth of oyster mushroom species, the experiment was conducted in a three replications. In this experiment, These substrates included wheat straw, mustard straw, fennel straw, soyabean straw, castor straw, ajwain straw, lucerne straw and oyster mushroom species ( Pleurotus ostreatus (Jacq.) P. Kumm). The results clearly demonstrated that between various substrates used, maximum and minimum growth rate were recorded in fennel straw and ajwain straw. The second best growth rate were recorded in castor straw.
