Abstract

Leptadenia reticulate (Retz.) Wight. & Arn. is a twinning shrub of Asclepiadaceae family. It is an endangered in nature, also known as Jivanti or Dodi. It has lots of medicinal property. It is also one of the important drugs in Ayurveda which is used in treatment of many of the disease. It’s principle constituent are Leptadenol, a-sitosterol, a-amyrin and alkaloid like Jibentin and á and a-Jivantic acids and also contains the alterative, aphrodisiac, astringent, Galactogogue, diuretic and used as atonic in debility due to seminal discharges, also useful in asthma. This review presents the valuable properties of Leptadenia reticulata.
