ECOLOGICAL DENSITY OF VARIOUS BIRD SPECIES IN KHARIF PEARL MILLET CROP IN DIFFERENT TALUKAS OF PATAN DISTRICT

Abstract

The North Gujarat area is well known as a land of agricultural having very few natural forest lands. The proposed work is restricted to the selected areas of the Patan district of North Gujarat region. The Patan district is dominant by farmers and their agricultural activities. The economy of the Patan district primary depends on agricultural. The farmlands of this area are lack proper irrigation and more affected by both vertebrate and invertebrate pests. Thought the area has a serious need to assessment of the avian community regarding to the Agro-ecosystem. Rose ringed-Parakeet was the major bird pest of millet crop in Patan district. They fed on millet grains during the grain maturity stage, causing a considerable loss. Grey Francolin and Babbler were also seen feeding on millet grains during the sowing and germination stage as well as at the grain maturing stage.
