INFLUENCE OF WASTE WATER ON VARIOUS MORPHOLOGICAL TRAITS OF ABELMOSCHUS ESCULENTUS L.

Abstract

Waste water i.e, municipal (T2) and sewage (T3) were used to check out their effect on various morphological traits of Abelmoschus esculentus L. in a pot experiment under same environmental condition except water. Their effects were compared with common irrigation water (T1). Waste water greatly influence various phases of plant growth i.e, plant height 11.6%, 118%, root length 33.43%, 80%, number of leaves 22.72%, 36.8%, germination of plants 18%, 22% and survival of plants among germinated plants were 33.33%, 50% in T2 and T3 treatment respectively in respect to T1. Reproductive parts also influenced by these waste water but none was observed in T1 i.e, flower 10:11 while fruit were 3:7 in T2 and T3 respectively. As a whole domestically generated waste water is loaded with nutrients and can be efficiently used as low cost fertilizer and this can reduce the loss of water and threat of inorganic fertilizers.
